Here is a list of some basic SEO glossary.

Algorithm
 
Algorithm are the rules and calculations used by search engine bots to calculate the rankings of the sites being indexed by it.
The search engine algorithms are different for different different Search Engines.



ALT Tags
ALT describes the images to the Search Engine. Unlike Humans Search Engine bot read only text. Best practice is to target your keyword with the relevant Images.

Back links
It is the total number of links from other websites directing to the website. Back links are the important part of an SEO and the process of collecting links from other websites to your website is know as link building.



Cloaking
Cloaking comes under Black Hat SEO. It is a procedure in which the actual content meant for users and is hidden from the search engines at the same time show different content to the Search Engine Bots. It’s an unethical SEO marketing practice meant to trick the search engines. 

Inbound Links
It is a synonym of Back links.

Outbound Links
Any links present on a web page that points to the other site is known as Outbound Links.

Keywords
Keywords are the exact word or phrase used by a user while searching for information on the Search Engine. It may also denote the terms or phrases targeted by a web site to get high rankings on search engines.

Keyword Density
Denotes the percentage of keywords in a document to the total word count of the document. It is an important factor used by search engines to determine the relevancy of a page. It should be 3-5 percent.

Keyword Proximity
The relative distance between two important keywords (May or may not be same) in the visible text of a website. How two keyword is related to each other.

Landing Page
The actual page to which a user is directed after clicking on the search engine listing of that particular website.

Anchor Text
The text that gets displayed in the hyperlinks.



Title Tag
Title Tag is to help search engines in describing the Title of a web page. Keyword Ranking is based on the Title tag it helps Bots to identify that the relevancy of the page with search term.

Description Tag
This tag is used to describe about the page. A short summary which will appear under the URl in the Serach Engine result Page. Meta Description should be unique for each page of site and catchy.

Keywords Tag
Keywords Tag is set of related keyword to the targeted keyword of that page. Now some of the Search Bots are not giving preference to the Keywords Tag.

Robots Tag
Robots Tag help webmasters to control the Web Pages that get indexed by the search engines. 

Mirror Site
Mirror Site is a duplicate copy of an already existing website.

Reciprocal Link
When two websites agree to exchange links with each other. For Example Site A points to Site B and Site B points to Site A.



Robot
Synonym of crawler.

Robots.txt
It is a text file that is included in the root folder to prohibit search engines from indexing the page.

URL
Uniform Resource Locator.

The most widely used acronym for Search Engine Results Page. See Results Page.

Basic SEO strategy is different for e-commerce site. 
Here are some basic SEO tips which will help your e-commerce site to maximise organic traffic and sales.

1. URL Optimization: 
Url should be unique and keyword rich for each product.
Instead of using some numbers for product in url use product name.
For example: Avoid using www.abc.com/123456659/
                   Use www.abc.com/women-apparel/
2. Products Description:
Create unique product description for every products. 

3. Avoid Duplicate Content / Page:
In e-commerce site there are lot of chances to create duplicate pages. 
So, try to avoid duplicate pages and best practice is to use Robots no-index no-follow for all search pages.

4. Site Load Time:
Optimize your site load time by reducing the size of the images but don't compromise with the image quality.

5. Images and Videos:
Add proper and related images and videos of product. Image and video should be of high quality and use targeted keyword as the Anchor text for that product.



6. Title and Meta Description:
Title and meta description which are appearing in Search engine result should be unique and catchy. So, that the user click on the link from Search engine result page.

7. Use HTTPS for URL:
