In 1993, the United Nations General Assembly declared 22 March as the first World Water Day.

There are over 663 million people living without a safe water supply close to home. they are forced to spend countless hours queuing or trekking to distant water sources, and due to dirty water they have lots of health issues.

The Theme of this World Water day is "Why waste water?"



In 2017, the theme is "Why Waste Water",

In 2016, the theme is "Water and Jobs,"
In 2015, World Water Day has the theme "Water and Sustainable Development".
